Mama Mia... Venice is pico bello
So we returned from Venice 10 days ago and haven't posted anything....
We are bad bloggers!
Venice is absolutely beautiful. All the colors, little streets, canals, gelatos, gondolas, murano glass shops, pizzerias, italian wine... so many things! People are very nice and the only overwhelming thing is the amount of tourists!
Our hotel was in a less touristic place and very nice and quiet.
This picture was taken a couple of meters from our hotel.

Everything is pretty much walking distance in Venice so we walked all over it. It's a great way to discover nice bridges, buildings, churches, random gelatarias, bakeries, etc..
We had luck with the weather! Everyone we've talked to here in the UK mentioned that Venice 'stinks' a lot during the summer, however we had beautiful days and at night there were thunderstorms, which cleaned the city and had it all nice, fresh and clean the next day for us to explore! I personally think that what smelled worst in Venice, were the tourists from northern europe that stick to their 'sunday-only-bath' schedule when they are in Italy! On sunday, August 27th, we celebrated Jason's 29th birthday! We had a fun and relaxing day and had dinner at a nice restaurant by the grand canal.
The waiters at this place is clearly not familiar with cameras! (see blurry picture)They also had some problems in knowing the difference between a vegetarian and a fish lasagna. It got to the point that a waiter took over my fork to poke in it and than asure that, after I complained 2 times, there was actually NO fish in my lasagna! I ended up eating and entire vegetarian lasagna and a fish one! (since, it was Jason's birthday I allowed him to help me!) Afterwards we went to see a Vivaldi-four season's concerto in a beautiful museum and finished the night having a pint of beer (as all good english people finish a fun evening!)
The next day we went to Murano where we say the authentic (and in a lot of cases very tacky) Murano glass chandeliers, jewelery, clowns, birds (you name it!)
This was taken from the top of a tower on St. Marco square. We really had a great time and if it wasn't for the long delay on our flight back, it would have been a PERFECT trip!
We highly recommend it!
