The Ocean, a wedding, & Traffic

Greetings everyone! It certainly has been a long while since we've updated the blog, but we've been out there having fun!

Los Angeles
A few weeks ago Jason went back to LA for a week of work. Arriving on a Saturday afternoon, he forced himself to stay awake through the jetlag (awake for 26 hours straight!) while dining on a fine Mexican food meal from El Cholo with Mike & Christina and a colleague from Shopzilla. The weather in Los Angeles was beautiful; so nice in fact, that Jason got up on Sunday (jetlagged and all!) and ran 11 miles down to and along the beach. It certainly felt nostalgic and I missed the ocean and warm California weather! (not the traffic, however ;) )

Annelies arrived on Wednesday, and we immediately went to El Cholo so that she could have a nice meal as well. After almost falling asleep in her chicken tostada salad, we went back to our hotel to get some shut-eye.

Justin's Wedding
Justin Remeny, a long-time friend of Jason's from University (he was actually the first guy Jason met in the dorms; they became fast friends!) was getting married that weekend. As part of the festivities, he took the "old crew" of guys out for a morning of golf on the Friday before the wedding. We went to the Malibu Country Club (the course was just as nice as it sounds!), which was a breathtaking course set in the canyons just north of Los Angeles. It played surprisingly forgiving, as you could hit a wicked slice and the shape of the canyon hills nearly guaranteed that your ball would bounce perfectly into the middle of the fairway :)

That evening was the rehearsal dinner; all members of the wedding party and those that travelled were invited to the rehearsal dinner. Annelies and Jason had the distinction of traveling the furthest, a mere 5000 miles!! The dinner and company were fantastic and it was great to catch up with some great old friends.

On Saturday, we took Scott, Missy and Matt back to our old hangout of Hermosa Beach for a lunch on The Strand and the famous Good Stuff restaurant. The day was just perfect (sunny and 74 degrees, just like every other day in Los Angeles), and I think I heard every single one of us say at different times, "wow, this weather is perfect; if it just weren't for the traffic in L.A. ..." After a bit of soaking up the sun, we changed into our formalwear to head out to the wedding.

The wedding took place at the Hotel Bel Air, a very posh spot tucked into the hills above Beverly Hills and Bel Air. Needless to say, the grounds & gardens were spectacular, and the wedding itself took place just at sunset; the colors and hues of the setting sun created a magical scene for a wonderful ceremony. Bride and Groom looked debonair and very much in love! After the ceremony, we headed inside for a 5 course meal, mixed with dancing, drinking, conversing, chatting, sitting, picture-taking, laughing, smiling, and having an all-around great time!

At one point, Justin's grandfather stole Annelies right out from under Jason and cut a serious rug with her on the dance floor. He can sure move well and turned out to dance up such a storm that he made Annelies tired! :)

To Justin and Samantha: we wish you the best and a life of happiness together! You're a great couple!! We expect to see you sometime out in London!
